Casey Smith and the #99 Team set to run Five Flags Speedway Friday night then 99 miles up the highway to South Alabama Speedway to defend Viper win. (Austin, Texas) September 5, 2007 - Casey Smith and his #99 Super Late Model team traveled down I-10 Labor Day weekend ready to race a double header at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida and Mobile International Speedway in Alamabama. Unfortunately mother nature had other ideas and rain mandated the Friday night “Blizzard” show at Five Flags to be postponed while the Saturday night Miller-Lite Super Late Model show at Mobile was cancelled. Casey and his team are again preparing for another “double dipper.” Friday night they will be running the rained out 100-lap “Blizzard” show at Five Flags Speedway, Pensacola, FL. Then Saturday night, Casey and his team will travel 99 miles up the highway to South Alabama Speedway, Opp, AL to compete in the 125-lap Super Late Model “Viper Series” points race event. Casey dominated the “Diamond Back-125” Viper Series event, July 28th at South Alabama Speedway setting fast time and leading every lap. Casey currently leads the “Viper Series” points by 36 marks over second place contender Ryan Sieg. South Alabama Speedway has joined 5 Flags Gulf Coast Bonus Bucks offering $1,000 bonus to the best average finisher of both races, making it possible to win $10,000 if you win at both tracks! “We have been really good at South Alabama Speedway this year,” Casey remarks. “But my car doesn’t have a clue which track it is on. It is all about your set-up. Going over to Five Flags last week-end and testing Thursday and Friday helped. Hopefully we hit on some things and I will have a good race car Friday night,” says Casey. When Casey was asked his thoughts heading into the double header on his points lead in the Viper Series and the bonus bucks being offered, his reply, “I am racing for the win, if you accomplish that then you don’t have to worry about the points and bonus bucks.”
