Austin, TX 10/27/09- It has not been the season that Casey Smith had hoped for, but after a win at South Alabama Speedway and a second place finish in the final Blizzard series race of the year at Mobile International Speedway, Casey Smith finds himself on a roll heading into one of the most prestigious races of the season.  This weekend Casey Smith will make his return to the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway for the All American 400.

Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville is one of the most historic short tracks in the country. The track hosted NASCAR Winston Cup races from 1958 to 1984 with names like Joe Weatherly, Johnny Beauchamp, Richard Petty, David Pearson, Bobby Isaac, Buddy Baker, Cale Yarborough, Darrell Waltrip, and Benny Parsons among others gracing victory lane.  The track has also been the home track for many NASCAR stars of the past and present including “Coo Coo” Marlin, Sterling Marlin, Bobby Hamilton and Jeff Green to name a few.

This year Smith will have the opportunity to prove himself against the likes of Brian Ickler, Chase Elliott, Ross Kenseth, T.J. Reaid, and Gulf Coast rivals Johanna Long and Bubba Pollard.  The last time Casey Smith ran at Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville was in 2007 in the All American 400.  Casey qualified fourteenth, quickly getting into the top ten before something in the rear end failed relegated Smith to a twenty-seventh place finish.

“The last time we ran there we had a good car and were just biding our time until a part failure took us out of the race.  This year we’ve had a good car in a lot of the races we’ve been in, but have had some bad luck take the win from us,” stated Smith.  “Over the past few races it looks like our luck has turned around. We’re running well and our finishes show it.”

Smith has not finished any worse than second in any of his last four races including a win at South Alabama Speedway a couple of weeks ago.  Smith has also ran well at Five Flags Speedway this season, a track that is similar in size and banking to Fairgrounds Speedway.

“We’ve had good runs at Pensacola this year which is encouraging, but here lately we’ve been pretty good everywhere.  We’ve actually been pretty good ever since we got our new car.  I think it’s been a top two car ever since we debuted it at Mobile in August.  We keep getting it better and it’s showing with our finishes,” said Smith.

Smith will look to take his #99 Rapid Disposal Chevy Monte Carlo to victory lane this weekend and claim one of the most unique trophies in all of short track racing; the famous guitar trophy that all event winners receive in Nashville.
