Austin, TX 9/= 18/10- After missing round four of the Gulf Coast Championship series due to work obligations Casey Smith is more than ever ready to strap in to his #99 Rapid Disposal Chevy Impala for the fifth and final round of the Gulf Coast Championship series this weekend. Friday night will be Smith’s last chance to prep for the 43^rd running of the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida. The last opportunity to capture a win= in 2010 at the ultra fast Mobile Int’l Speedway in Alabama the following night will also be at stake. After several promising runs this season at the half mile track bad luck has hit the Texas native resulting in a disappoint= ing finish.

“I’m anxious about getting back behind the= wheel it seems like it’s been forever since I’ve been to the race tra= ck, but I know we should be able to pick up right where we left off. We are hav= ing the best cars we’ve ever had on a consistent at Pensacola and just li= ke always we’ve been fast at Mobile this year we just haven’t found that extra little bit to put us in victory lane,” stated Casey.

So far this season a third place finish at the 2010 Ra= ttler 250 at the South Alabama Speedway has been the best result for the Casey Sm= ith Racing team. While the wins haven’t came quite yet, to win a Snowball Derby would be without a doubt Casey’s biggest career win thus making this weekend at Five Flags Speedway the most crucial of the season. The key goal of the weekend will be to focus on preparing a car that can win a Snow= ball Derby yet still ensuring that the second race of the weekend at Mobile doesn’t get overlooked.

“I think that can be a common mistake that happe= ns this time every year is that you put so much in to having a good car in the last race before that Derby that you can put Mobile’s final race on t= he back burner. We’ve been fortunate enough to have good cars at Mobile = over the years that it hasn’t affected us as much as some of the other guys but you never really know what can happen,” said Smith. “Whethe= r it would be Pensacola or Mobile a win at this point of the season would go a l= ong way as far as momentum and confidence heading into the biggest short track = race in the country.”
